When passengers look for an affordable flight, their first preference is always JetBlue Airways because of its low fares, access to almost all destinations, and in-flight service. While a major number of passengers carry their bags during boarding the flight others choose to check their bags so they can focus on enjoying the flight comfortably. The JetBlue Baggage Policy is slightly different from the other airlines. Therefore, travelers need to understand it.

Carry-on baggage:

1 personal item – No fee is charged.

1 carry-on item – No fee is charged. Blue Basic Fare does not get a carry-on allowance.

Checked Baggage:

Fees will be charged if the passenger chooses the fares which does not include checked luggage.

  • The cost of any checked bag is not included in the Blue Basic, Blue, or Blue Extra tickets on flights within the US, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
  • In  Blue Plus fare, one bag is included.
  • Two bags are included in mint fares.
  • The more bags that are checked, the more costly they become.

How Does the JetBlue Baggage Policy Work?

When flying with JetBlue, the number of bags that the passengers can bring as carry-on or check-in during boarding the flight, and the fees for doing so, depend on various factors. JetBlue Baggage Policy considers

●     Type of ticket used by the passengers for traveling.

●     Travel destination.

●     Also, the size of the luggage.

●     Weight of the luggage.

●     Also, the type of credit card the passenger carries.

JetBlue Carry-On Baggage Policy

JetBlue provides its passengers the facility to bring certain items inside the cabin. According to JetBlue Baggage Policy:

Blue/Blue Plus/Blue Extra/Mint fares permit 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop bag) per passenger fee-free.

Blue Basic Fare includes only one personal item for free. Other carry-on bags are chargeable. However, in certain cases, Blue Basic Fare holders will get both one personal item and one carry-on bag.

  • Mosaic members
  • Also, Unaccompanied minor
  • Active military member
  • Also, flyers on JetBlue Transatlantic flight
  • Passengers with Blue Basic Fare plus Even More Space seat

Carry-on luggage should not exceed the following size and weight restrictions:

  • 45 linear inches (22 x 14 x 9 inches) including the handles and wheels.
  • The baggage should fit in the overhead bin.
  • However, there are no weight restrictions on the carry-on baggage.

Personal items should not be more than 17 x 13 x 8 inches in size. Also, it must fit inside the space below the seat in front of the passenger.

According to the JetBlue Carry-on Baggage Policy, duty-free items, supportive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, strollers, child restraint seats, etc.), and one diaper bag for lap infants do not count towards the carry-on allowance.

JetBlue Checked Baggage Policy

Not all fares receive checked baggage allowance on JetBlue. According to JetBlue Baggage Policy, if the checked baggage is not included in the specific ticket type, travelers have the option to purchase the bags.

As per the JetBlue Checked Baggage Policy, the maximum dimensions of the bag can be 62 inches or 157 centimeters (length + width + height). On the other hand, the weight of the checked baggage should not be more than 50 pounds or 23 kilograms.

If the passenger is traveling with checked baggage, then on domestic routes they need to check-in 40 minutes before departure. Whereas for international flights, they must check in 60 minutes before departure. Checked luggage is not in a position to be picked up by JetBlue more than six hours before the flight’s planned departure time. The presumption applies to flights departing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where passengers are not authorized to check in their bags more than four hours before takeoff.

Within the U.S., the Caribbean, and Latin America:

Mint and Mosaic allow two complimentary checked baggage. Blue Plus allows only one free checked baggage. However, for the rest of the fares, travelers have to purchase baggage.

Between the U.S. and the U.K.

According to JetBlue Baggage Policy, Blue/ Blue Plus/ Blue Extra gets the first bag for free. On the other hand, Mint and Mosaic get two free baggage allowances.

JetBlue Baggage Policy for Military Personnel

JetBlue provides the facility to provide outstanding service to those who serve their country. To give back, they have several advantages for active-duty military.

●    Any active-duty military personnel (and their dependents) traveling off duty each receive up to two free checked bags (maxing out at 50 pounds).

●   On the other hand, active-duty military (and their families) traveling on duty can bring up to five free checked bags (up to 99 pounds).
